Jethro Tull

Early in 1968, a group of young British musicians, born from the ashes of various failed regional bands gathered together in hunger, destitution and modest optimism in Luton, North of London. With a common love of Blues and an appreciation, between them, of various other music forms, they started to win over a small but enthusiastic audience in the various pubs and clubs of Southern England.
By the mid 70s, Jethro Tull were one of the most successful live performing acts on the world stage, rivalling Zeppelin, Elton John and even the Rolling Stones. Ian Anderson and Martin Barre remain at the centre of a group of sometimes changing but highly capable – indeed excellent – musicians. Currently, Doane Perry, veteran Tull drummer of some 24 years experience, together with John O’Hara on piano and accordion, and David Goodier on bass guitar are to be found in the line-up, delighting audiences and continuing the legacy of Tull’s music with its rich variety and depth of expression wherever fans, young and old, want to hear Rock, Folk, Jazz and Classical-inspired music for grown-ups.

Fairport Convention

Fairport Convention is often credited with being the first English electric folk band. Formed in April 1967, they were a folk-rock band in the American Byrds / Lovin' Spoonful sense of the term, rather than the sense of the electrified traditional music that they would later come to embody. They were billed as England's answer to Jefferson Airplane which wasn't that far off the mark as the music on their first three albums is very similar to the pre-psychedelic Jefferson Airplane. Fairport rapidly developed from playing cover versions of American 'west coast' style music to an individual style which melded rock music with traditional English tunes and songs.

His acoustic show has to be seen to be believed. Ageing punks and new fans attracted by his TV and film roles are treated to a mix of punk, country and pure rock'n'roll. Each of his catchy tunes pays tribute to a variety of stars. Standard punk anthems stand side by side with influences as diverse as Status Quo, Freddie Mercury, Tammy Wynette and Shakin' Stevens.
Some people were just born to be stars. There just seems to be something about them - the way they talk, the way they carry themselves, the way their battered lives intigue us. Ed is mad, but deinitely not sad.

Guy Buttery

After opening a concert in early 2001 for well known Mozambican musician Gito Baloi and Nibs van der Spuy, both musicians were dumb struck at the virtuosity coming from the fingers of the 17 year old South African born Guy Buttery. The tapestry of sounds and stylistic influences coming from his guitar, never seem to be exhausted. Just when you think the journey is over, he will start playing a beautiful rendition of one of his favourite South African composers. Be it Vusi Mahlasela, Tony Cox or Steve Newman, Buttery never loses sight of where he comes from and the rich local influences all around him
